Kayla and Dave | Art Gallery Wedding | Hickory, NC

A few short weeks ago, at the start of Fall here in NC Tad and I got to shoot this fabulous art gallery wedding. Kayla and David are an adorable fun couple, and we had a blast being the ones to capture the event! Take a peek into some of the fun!

We started off at Embellish Salon & Boutique (Check out their facebook page here!) Let me tell you, this Salon is AWESOME. I love the boutique, and the owner Paula. I get to meet a lot of industry professionals, and see a lot of shops, salons, and owners, and sometimes you just hit it off with people. I arrived to the wedding wearing pants, a pink button down, and a jacket. While the getting ready was happening I found and HAD to buy a dress. That I changed into for the rest of the day. :-D That was a first for me, haha. But still so fun. It is the most adorable dress. The next time my mother visits me (She lives in Ohio) we are going to see Paula get our hair done and do a little boutique shopping. But enough about that here are a few getting ready photos!

This wedding had so many details. SO so many hand made, awesome details.

Yes the bride hand made the jewelry gifts she gave to her bridal party. They were stunning.

We could not have planned a more beautiful day for this wedding. It was perfect outside.

I always try to have a little bit of fun during our couple photos...:)

The reception was at "The Warehouse 18 Designs" take a look at their Facebook page here. This place. One of the coolest reception venues I have EVER been to. And the details I mentioned, Kayla did a FABULOUS job decorating the venue. Stunning.

And y'all know me. I love the sparkler shots. This night was wonderful, and Tad and I are so lucky to have been picked to be the photographers. Cheers!

Anna & Patrick l Country Engagement

I met Anna at a Starbucks in Statesville where we talked about her fall 2015 wedding. I LOVE everything about it from the mason jars to the antique windows and especially the barn venue! I'm a sucker for country chic. So not only was I super excited about the wedding itself, Anna and I hit it off. I feel like I've been friends with her for a long time. She brought her mom to the consult and we all hit it off.

Anna invited me to her home to do the engagement photos. This time of year is so beautiful in the mountains. The drive up there was very peaceful. & the view from her home is amazing!! The trees were so colorful.

I met Anna's fiancé Patrick the day of the engagement session. Often times grooms are not thrilled for pictures but he was such a good sport. Patrick kept me laughing all afternoon! Behind their home there is a field with overgrown weeds, which every photographer loves. After we frolicked in the weeds for a little while we went back down the hill towards the field in front of her home.

Across from their house, Anna & Patrick have a field where they kept their horses.

Anna's horse, Ty, photobombed us the whole time we were in his field. He is such a handsome and photogenic horse! He made sure he was in every photo, I even had to crop him out of some!

I want to blow this one up on a canvas and put it in my home and it isn't even my horse.

Patrick told me that he won Anna's engagement ring in a claw machine. I wonder how many quarters it took him...

After we played around in their fields for a while we took a trip down the road to a friend's house because there were giant hay bales for us to enjoy. The sun was setting and the clouds were a brilliant orange and grey.

I would be a happy photographer if I had a location like this for every session...and this sky wouldn't hurt either.

&& working with a couple this funny and this is love wouldn't hurt either!

We had so many great images from this session and I had such a hard time narrowing down. I can't wait to do bridal portraits with you Anna!

I know I said I wouldn't post the pose above but it totally shows your personalities so I couldn't help myself. Hope you don't mind...

Not only did Ty photobomb us, Anna's parents crashed the end of the session too. Can you believe they have been married 30 years?! That definitely deserve a photo and a kiss. You set an excellent example for Anna & Patrick to follow.

Congrats you two love birds and thanks for choosing Head Over Heels to capture your journey to marriage!

White Anniversary l Kona, Hawaii Wedding

So last year I (Amanda) had the absolutely pleasure of flying to Hawaii to photograph a client's wedding. I had known this family for several years and photographed their son Aidenn at a previous mall portrait studio that I managed. I was thrilled for Kristine & Thomas when they decided to officially get married and even more ecstatic that I was going to be a part of their special day, well week really.

My mom decided that I needed an assistant on this trip so she came along. It was such an amazing trip for the both of us, the White family and their close friends. Before the wedding, we discovered and became slightly obsessed with a local coffee house called Lava Java. The place has local musician perform on the patio and the store is opened up to the amazing view of the water. Not to mention the food is to die for!

I think I went to Lava Java at least once a day. It's probably the reason I came back 10 lbs heavier! I did try a bunch of native fruits too. I don't think I had one bad meal in Hawaii.

I have to be honest, before this wedding I had only photographed a few weddings, and they definitely weren't my favorite. However, I LOVED this family and I knew they would love my work so I was very excited to be part of this experience with them. Kristine planned this wedding while living in NC but it surely didn't show. Every detail was beautiful from the local flowers to her dress, the venue and even their shoes.

The ceremony was short and sweet, emphasis on sweet. Thomas and Kristine incorporated local culture by having a lei ceremony during their wedding. Their son Aidenn was absolutely adorable and so excited for his parents.

We had a fun reception immediately after the ceremony where the couple shared their first dance as husband and wife. Kristine also shared dances with her father and son. We ate brunch and even shared some cake....in the face!

After the reception there were a few hours of relaxation before their true celebration, the luau!! This was probably the best reception I've ever seen. So much delicious local food, hula dancers and hot fire breathing men!!

As if the wedding day wasn't absolutely amazing in itself the day after we had a brunch at Snorkel Beach. Their were massive, adorable turtles, great food and the best company.

We also went snorkeling by the Captain Cook Monument. The trip was amazing and was by far my favorite 'job' ever! I met new friends and enjoyed the week with my mom. It was my first time snorkeling and I think I did okay. The fish were so beautiful and plentiful.

Kona was the best place ever to work and vacation. I can't wait to go back! So until next time Hawaii!!

The best part is the Whites moved to Kona just a few months after their wedding. Can't wait to see them and the island again soon.

Molly & Dustin

I love every wedding and every client. Really I do. I get the chance to get to know and hang out with each and every couple, and by the end of the wedding I ALWAYS feel attached to them. Well these two were pretty awesome, and this was one of my favorite events EVER. I went to high school with Molly, although we knew and were friends with a lot of the same people, we never actually hung out, or got to know each other. And now, I am sad I didn't get that chance, but so happy that I got to know her over the past year, via phone consults, Facebook, and the wedding process.

Lets start with one of the coolest little add ons any of my clients has ever done. We sent Tad to the bachelor party to capture all the fun, friends, and laughter. And man oh man, the photos and the story came out fabulous. I highly recommend this add on to everyone. These are some of my favorite photos from any event ever. (yes I have said that like 3 times - but oh well) The event was at Old Familiar Barber Shop in Ohio (HOH will travel anywhere for your wedding!)

Yep - that is Tad in the mirror. He had so much fun, and Tad and Dustin got along so well that for this wedding, I left in the photos that we ended up in (per request of the groom.) :)

Tad came home from this bachelor party so excited for the wedding the next day. (Yes I had to put his jeans and some of our camera gear outside to air out :), he smelled like an old fashioned barber shop and a mixture of home distilled whiskey (how cool) and delicious cigars.

It is said that rain on your wedding day is good luck. The day-of was raining all morning, enough that the ceremony got moved inside. It happens, but usually works out awesome. The rain cleared, and that is my favorite kind of light ever. Glowy - post rain- sun at dusk...it does not get any better. But first, here are a few of the ceremony, even inside, it was perfection.

Now lets talk about the reception (I promise glowing post rain photos soon). Both Dustin and Molly planned litter surprises for each other. Here was another first for me, Dustin had the Jeni's Ice Cream truck come to the reception!

Oh, and it keeps getting better and better, here are some from the reception....

And I leave you with some of my most favorite photos ever. No joke. Thank you so much Molly & Dustin, we loved being able to capture your day!

Ali & Mike

Earlier this summer Tad and I (Janel) had the chance to photograph this awesome, fun, fabulous wedding. These two were amazing, and we are SO glad we had the chance to capture their day. I love looking back, and reliving this day. One of the best parts of being the photographer!
